The pitman arm is the first link in the steering system. Connected to the sector shaft of the steering box, this arm transmits the turning force to the rest of the steering system. While this part doesn’t usually wear excessively, it is a good idea to check for worn splines or oblong connecting holes caused by neglect or poor maintenance and replace it if necessary.
