The Three G.T. 350C's

It's been 10 years since Mustangs Plus and The Restomod Shop built the three 1966 G.T.350C Mustang Convertibles that we still own today. At the time of the build, Wilhelm Motor Works had a contract with Shelby American to build "Continuation Shelbys" which is what the "C" stands for. It does not stand for "Convertible" as many people think. Jon Wilhelm came to Ron and David Bramlett at the 2004 SEMA show and proposed the project. We started the project a few months later in July of 2005 and had the prototype built and to Jon in September of 2005. This was a Red with White stripe version with a Ford Racing 5.0 and an automatic transmission. We next completed the White with Blue stripe G.T.350C which was powered by a 289 mated to a top loader 4 speed transmission.

Built last was the 2nd Red with White stripe G.T.350C. It is equipped with a Ford Racing 392 stroker and a HD Tremec 3550 5 speed transmission. This G.T.350C was to be either a gift for Carroll Shelby or the first G.T.350C to go to Barrett Jackson in 2006. Unfortunately, before the year was over, Wilhelm Motor Works and Shelby American got into a disagreement which resulted in a drawn out lawsuit in 2006. Thus, the project died before we started any more cars. But, by that time, Mustangs Plus and The Restomod Shop had completed the three G.T.350C's you see here and we still own them today. They are, in a manner of speaking, Shelby step cars! Stop in and see them during your next visit to Mustangs Plus.
